Based on Levi Straussian considerations (1983), according to which culture is a complex system incorporating the knowledge, beliefs and habits acquired by the human being who is part of it, we propose to consider virtual worlds as cultural objects. Indeed, we agree with Lotman (1999) that all texts and statements are manifestations of the culture from which they emerge. More precisely, the latter presents itself as a set of norms for the production of these texts, but also as values in perpetual motion due to possible cultural hybridizations, linked to the contributions of other cultures. Consequently, virtual worlds are cultural products of an enunciative praxis, the object of projections and transfers made by subjects according to their given culture(s). Better still, they present themselves as semiospheres (Lotman, 1999), in other words, as signifying and structured totalities.In this context, our project aims to study the role of culture in the creation of these worlds, and more specifically in the strategies implemented to facilitate their learning by users. After demonstrating the influence of culture on perception, we will question its influence on the operationality of the "Imported Behavioral Scheme" developed by Auvray and Fuchs (2007) and the understanding of metaphors proposed to users in the symbolization of actions to be performed. In short, the aim is to measure the role of culture in the perception, understanding and appropriation of virtual worlds.
