This proposal deals with the intricate relationship between games and interactive media. It examines two fundamental aspects of their operational logics. While the debate has been around the distinction between games and fiction, we adopt a twofold perspective. Firstly, narrativity is scrutinized from the viewpoint of the author, which includes creators, developers, and producers. Secondly, gamability is explored from the perspective of the reader, including players, users, and viewers. Within this framework, we introduce a schema inspired by semiotics, which aids in identifying the varying degrees of both games and interactivity.By discussing some of the these fundamental characteristics, we aim to shed light on the nuanced interactions between narrative elements and gameplay mechanics within interactive media. This analysis not only tries to clarify our understanding of the medium but also provides valuable insights for creators and scholars alike. In the end, following the framework of research and creation, this discussion serves as a foundation for exploring the potential synergies between games and interactive media, offering pathways for innovation and experimentation in both fields. Ultimately, by elucidating the multifaceted nature of games and interactivity, we hope to inspire further exploration and creativity in the realm of digital entertainment and storytelling.
