Interpretations of dreams are found interesting by everyone as a result of the desire to know the future. Many books have been published on dream interpretation in Turkish culture. The symbols in these books, which are thought to be a metaphorical reflection of reality, have been subjected to different interpretations by commentators: One of the most well-known dream interpretation books in Turkish culture is İbn-i Sirin's work titled Tâbirname, written in Arabic. There are many symbolic elements about dreams in Tâbirname, and these symbolic elements are a rich source for understanding the spiritual and psychological dimensions of dreams. It has become traditional in semiotics to analyze the meaning of a written text, but analyzing a non-linguistic and metaphorical sign such as a dream involves many problems. In this paper, first the basic understandings of dream interpretation in Islamic belief will be revealed, and then the representational dimension of dream interpretations in İbn-i Şirin's work called Tâbirname will be analyzed based on C. S. Peirce's triple sign theories. Peirce's sign triadic emphasizes the relationship of the sign (symbol), the object (what it represents), and the interpretant (how it is perceived). In this context, in our paper, the analysis of some symbols in dreams will be discussed together with the cultural and personal contexts of the symbols. For example, what a symbol means to a person may be related to that person's cultural background and life experiences. This approach can be very effective in discovering the deeper meanings of symbols in dreams.
