In Chile there is a numerical gender disparity in the field of semiotic production. 55% of Chilean Association of Semiotics (ACHS) members are men; at the territorial level, a concentration of semiotic activity is observed in the central south of the country (Parra, Meza and Guajardo, 2023, p. 285).This work aims to reflect on the conditions of academic work, based on the experiences shared by researchers. To know the motivations and expectations in a context of social crisis in order to analyze the construction of identity, in the network of roles between production and reproduction exposed from Marxist feminism (Federici, 2015), as well as the way in which they communicate. The activities and their representations are explored as "perverse social problem" (Engeström and Sannino, 2021). Recognition and redistribution (Fraser and Honneth, 2006), of semiotic work cannot be treated as an isolated problem, so it takes up space in the fourth generation of the cultural-historical activity theory. The methodology of work consists in the call to a conversation circle of four sessions on: 1) Distinction of contradictions of work activity and 2) Expansive transitions of identity as intellectuals.Among the first results, a paralyzing motive is recognized linked to the resistance in work-related environments, the questioning of expertise and a type of self-assertive competitiveness. The need for a round of concrete positions is made explicit, through the topics semiotic identity and recognition; legitimization of discipline and transformation, innovation.
